Ultimate Barrows/Barrows reward guide Empty
PostSubject: Ultimate Barrows/Barrows reward guide   Ultimate Barrows/Barrows reward guide EmptyFri Jan 21, 2011 12:47 pm

All right, I've made up my mind, my first(next) ultimate guide is going to be a combination Barrows/Barrows reward guide, but before I start, I'll give you the list of what i'm covering:

The Barrows themselves (the brothers and the area)
Details on strategy for the brothers/barrows in general
As complete a list as I can make for possible rewards from the rewards chest

Here goes:

First things first, you need to get there; open the minigames teleports, and choose barrows.

Upon teleporting, you will find yourself facing south on top of Ahrim's burial mound (in other words, dead center in the Barrows); for clarification, heres a overview of the barrows:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

WARNING: Come prepared (or overprepared as the case may be), because if you teleport away at any time, your kills will be reset.

If you should happen to get lost, or lose track of your kills, get on Ahrim's mound, refer to the map, and use the server command ::barrowskc, which will list all the brothers, showing which you have and haven't killed so far

As you can see, there are 6 mounds, meaning 6 brothers, you will need to kill them all in order to claim your reward from the chest on top of Ahrim's mound

Overall breakdown of the brothers and their set effects (I'm not sure if some of the set effects actually are applied by the NPC's, so i'll just explain what the effects do, and add if i'm certain they are applied):
The chamber pictures are just to show the image on each sarcophagus which if you get lost can tell you which brother's chamber you have broken into

Ahrim the Blighted:
Level 98
Attacks with/Pray what: Magic/Magic
set consists of: Ahrim's hood, Robetop, Robeskirt, Staff
Set effect: attacks will occasionally reduce opponents strength level
effect works (NPC/Player): fairly sure the NPC's isn't active/No clue
Ahrim's chamber: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Verac the Defiled:
Level 115
Attacks with/pray what: Melee/unnecessary/(piety)
Set consists of: Verac's helm, brassard, plateskirt, flail
set effect: occasionally ignores prayer and armor
effect works(NPC/Player): Constant/probably
Note: Verac is the only brother that I would suggest forgoing prayer, unless you feel that using piety would benefit you
Note 2: Verac is only dangerous if you choose to bring melee or mage to barrows, because unlike for you, the set effect ALWAYS applies for him (though he can still hit low), he is easily capable of hitting 25+ multiple times in succession, so consider this a warning to be careful if using one of those
Verac's chamber: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Torag the Corrupted
Level 115
Attacks with/pray what: Melee/Melee
Set consists of: Torag's helm, platebody, platelegs, hammers
Set effect: occasionally drains running energy
effect works (NPC/Player): No/don't know
Torag's chamber: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Karil the Tainted
Level 98
Attacks with/pray what: Ranged/Ranged
Set consists of: Karil's coif, leathertop, leatherskirt, xbow
Set effect: randomly drains opponents agility level
effect works (NPC/Player): no/doubtful
Notes: Karil's xbow is easily the strongest ranged weapon on the server (some prefer a dark bow as ammo is easier to come by)
Notes (2):Karil's Crossbow can only use bolt racks for ammo, which are only available from barrows as a reward, or through the crystal bow trick
Karil's chamber: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Guthan the Infested
Level 115
Attacks with/pray what: Melee/Melee
Set consists of: Guthan's helm, platebody, chainskirt, warspear
set effect: occasionally will heal you equal to damage inflicted to enemy
effect works (NPC/Player): yes/yes
Guthan's effect activating: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Guthan's chamber: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Dharok the Wretched
Level 115
Attacks with/pray what: Melee/Melee
Set consists of: Dharok's helm, platebody, platelegs, greataxe
set effect: wretched strength: strength increases inversely to hp remaining (see note 2 below)
effect works (NPC/Player): yes/yes
Note: Dharok is the one barrows brother you MUST pray against (unless by some miracle you can 1 hit him), because due to his set effect, he can hit very high
Note 2: The sets effect is applied as your hp drops, eventually capping out at roughly 2x your base strength level at 10% (or less!) hp remaning
Dharok's chamber: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

For the maximum time at barrows, i'd recommend 70 or 80+ prayer (to reduce the number of prayer/super restore pots you'll need), and 80 or 90+ ranged and defense (to increase damage done and reduce damage taken from verac)

A typical inventory for me (you might find something else works better for you):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

This inventory usually nets me between 4-6 full trips (usually have some leftovers when I get bored)

Rewards:
After you have killed all the brothers you can access the rewards chest; heres a list (as I know it) of possible rewards:

all barrows sets (including bolt racks), dds, dragon long, dragon scimitar, full crystal shield, full crystal bow, rune c'bow?, cut gems up to diamond, uncut onyx?, Trimmed capes of achievement (relatively sure you can only find ones for the 99s you have), 150k+?, fremminik helms?, fremminik rings, random numbers and assortments of runes (i've gotten as little as 1 rune as a reward), dragon hatchet, ranger boots?

(I note that runes, cash and cut gems seem to be the most common rewards)

Will add pictures of the the full sets I have as soon as I find the will to do so

I'm bored right now so I'll leave things at this, tell me what you think as always
